US Open -- Naomi Osaka reaches semifinals

Novak Djokovic defeats John Millman to reach 11th US Open semifinal

Kei Nishikori defeated the 2014 US Open Champion Marin Cilic in the quarter-finals.

Even in the final set Nishikori looked comfortable with a 4-1 lead before Cilic levelled, only for the Croat to lose the final two games.

Djokovic will meet Japan's Kei Nishikori in the last four having already swatted aside Hungary's Marton Fucsovics, American Tennys Sandgren, Richard Gasquet of France and the Portuguese Joao Sousa.

The 28-year-old will have to fight hard on Friday against Djokovic to reach only the second Grand Slam final of his career.

The 20-year-old said she was nervous and claimed to be "freaking out inside", though it certainly never showed.

Naomi Osaka, of Japan, returns a shot to Lesia Tsurenko, of Ukraine, during the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, in NY.

"I've gotten a lot better managing my emotions once it gets to this part and knowing that everything is going to be probably more amped up", Keys said. I feel it is a big chance for her.

Superstars Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have both taken issue with the decision to leave the roof at Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums open during matches.

Djokovic moved a step closer to a third championship at Flushing Meadows and a 14th Grand Slam title overall by eliminating Millman 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday to get to the tournament's semifinals for an 11th appearance in a row.

The Aussie saved another four in the opening game of the second set and as the duel continued both players were clearly feeling the effects of their long, entertaining rallies.

Djokovic, rejuvenated by a fourth Wimbledon title after a spell of struggles with form and confidence since wrapping up the career Grand Slam in Paris in 2016, enjoys an equally comfortable record over Japan star Nishikori.

Millman held serve from 0-40 down in the opening game of the second set but at 4-4 he double-faulted on break point. I'd play in a swimming pool if I got to play a quarter-final every week at a Grand Slam.

In 2017, she was beaten by Sloane Stephens in the U.S. Open final; Venus Williams and CoCo Vandeweghe were the other semifinalists, making it the first time in 36 years that the last four women in NY represented the host country.

"From that point on, I felt the match was quite even", he went on.

That point was illustrated during the second set when, in a weird moment, a drenched Millman was allowed to leave the court after the fourth game to change.

"I forgot about it [beating Djokovic]", said Nishikori.

Widely considered the best returner in the game, Djokovic kept accumulating chances - and then failing to cash them in. "Just trying to hang in there, trying to find a way to win the match". Djokovic was only too happy to have a break. He was able to come through on only four of his 20 break points. The third set Nishikori won the tiebreak but in the fourth game Cilic served well and naturally equalized.

Once again, however, the Australian was broken at 4-4, upon which Djokovic served out to love to complete his victory.

But Nishikori broke Cilic in the final game, capturing the match with a blistering service return. "Especially after coming from injury, I think I'm enjoying this challenge".
