Trump mocks Nike over Kaepernick ad backlash: 'Getting absolutely killed'

Nike Le Bron 16 HFR

Colin Kaepernick might not be back on an NFL field yet, but Nike's putting the professional football player and activist front and center for its 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign.

Kaepernick has become a polarizing figure after refusing to stand for the national anthem in 2016 in an effort to draw attention to racial injustice in America. "But I think it's a bad message that they're sending and the goal of them doing it, maybe there's a reason for them doing it but I think as far as sending a message, I think it's a awful message and a message that shouldn't be sent".

It's clear where Serena Williams stands in terms of Colin Kaepernick's Nike deal.

The former San Francisco 49er's simple black and white ad forces viewers to look head on into the eyes of the man who is leading the fight against police brutality.

It begins: "If people say your dreams are insane, if they laugh at what you think you can do - good".

After Nike unveiled the campaign, Williams tweeted that she was "especially proud to be a part of the Nike family".

"We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform", Davis said. As the post and the story went viral a large a mount of people starting burning their Nike's and taking a stance against the company. Whether one agrees with him or not, the 33-year-old is using his platform to spark conversations and has consistently supported Kaepernick's protest. "It's sad. But he continues to do the best that he can to support".

Portnoy argued that today's Nike culture is very different from the culture people have seen in years past, and "that's what they're selling".

A lot of people have reacted negatively, including MMA fighters Colby Covington and Tim Kennedy. Kaepernick is suing team owners for allegedly colluding to keep him out of the NFL.

"I think it's a awful message".
