Elon Musk Won't Back Down On Cave Diver 'Pedo' Remark

Elon Musk renews 'pedo' controversy, asks if it's 'strange' the British diver hasn't sued

Then Drew Olanoff, a former TechCrunch writer, piped in to ask about the time Musk accused British diver Vern Unsworth, who helped rescue a Thai soccer team from a cave, of being a pedophile. However, earlier this week, Musk appeared to double-down on his pedophilia themed attacks, tweeting, "You don't think it's unusual [Unsworth] hasn't sued me?" He also badgered a Twitter user about why his claim aboutUnsworth had not been investigated.

"He can stick his submarine where it hurts", Unsworth said on CNN at the time. He had criticised Musk's proposal for the use of a mini-submarine in the operation, calling it a "PR stunt" and said that the prototype had "absolutely no chance of working".

Musk apologized for the earlier tweets and eventually took them down, but his Tuesday tweets are still up. There is no indication that Musk's allegation is true, and he provided no justification or proof to back up his claim.

Musk's weird allegation came after Unsworth accused Musk of using the Thai cave rescue ordeal to stage a publicity stunt.

Unsworth told Sky News on Wednesday that he could not comment on Musk's latest tweets, but added: "It's all being dealt with, that's all I can say". "I think people realise what sort of guy [Musk] is". He called on Musk's legal counsel to contact him in order to avoid litigation and to correct the allegedly false statements. "Why?" Musk who is very vocal about his views on social media has often paid the price for it.

The SEC hasn't acknowledged that it's investigating Tesla, and Ryan White, a spokesman for the agency, declined to comment for this story.

A source close to Musk denied the CEO received a note from the attorney.

"Tesla only sought fair treatment for our customers, and we hope the Ministry now does the right thing by delivering on its promise to ensure all [electric vehicle]-owners receive their incentives", the Tesla spokesperson said.

"The biggest risk short-sellers pose to Elon and the stock price is putting information out there", said Paul Huettner, who works for a Chicago-based advisory firm and said he took out options betting against Tesla after it missed its Model 3 production targets past year.

"It's such a ridiculous situation", said Brodie Ferguson, a 25-year-old Canadian whose interest in Tesla stems from watching videos about Musk's other engineering ventures.
