Michael Cohen Raises $126K in GoFundMe Campaign

Impeach me and the market crashes - Trump

On Tuesday, the president's longtime personal lawyer and "fixer" Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to eight violations of federal campaign-finance, bank and tax laws.

On Wednesday, Michael Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, advertised MichaelCohenTruth.com when he was on Fox News and encouraged viewers to donate.

But even while the world watched Cohen testify after pleading guilty as jurors returned 8 damning verdicts against Manafort on Tuesday, Trump refused to curb his unfathomable confidence, instead responding to reporters and posting on Twitter with his own accusations of a "rigged witch hunt", claiming that Cohen somehow plead guilty to "campaign finance violations that are not a crime".

Cohen told a court that Trump told him to arrange a $280,000 (£220,000) "hush money" payment to keep two women from claiming they had affairs with him during the 2016 election campaign. They are Stormy Daniels, who allegedly got $130,000, and former Playboy model Karen McDougal who was paid $150,000.

Trump made the comments as his White House struggled to manage the fallout from Cohen's plea deal and the conviction of Trump's former campaign chairman Manafort on financial charges.

Cohen had pleaded guilty on eight charges, which included arrangements for payments to influence the elections, as per Trump's order.

And, after an investigation that has gone on for 18 months, U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller still has not come up with any evidence of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign in the 2016 election, which is what he was supposed to investigate in the first place.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee want to return to Washington from August recess a week early to address the new allegations that President Donald Trump violated campaign finance laws.

Mr Sessions, a long-time United States senator and Trump supporter, drew Mr Trump's ire when he recused himself in March a year ago from matters dealing with the 2016 presidential campaign.

"It is clear that, as the prosecutor noted, Mr. Cohen's actions reflect a pattern of lies and dishonesty over a significant period of time", Giuliani said in a statement.

Trump in his tweet did not spell out what he was referring to regarding former president Barack Obama, but he elaborated a bit more on Fox: "If you look at President Obama, he had a massive campaign violation, but he had a different attorney general, and they viewed it a lot differently".

"I don't care if they would have given them both light treatments but to give one, particularly the newly elected president from day one, this kind of scrutiny of all his campaign aides, of all his associates and basically looking for crimes so that they could flip them", he added.

Mr Trump said Mr Cohen only worked for him part time, and accused the lawyer of making up stories to reduce his legal exposure.

Regardless of the legality of Mr. Cohen's conduct, the media used the admission to unleash holy hell on President Trump.

"I don't know how you can impeach somebody who's done a great job", Trump said, in the interview which aired Thursday on "Fox & Friends".

We judge his performance as president based on policy work, but Trump's behavior continually undermines his ability to get things done.

Still, as of now, it is hard to see how two-thirds of a new Senate would convict this president of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Davis then wrapped up the "Skullduggery" interview by saying: "Being on this podcast and being asked questions, especially by Michael Isikoff, no offense intended, is the functional equivalent of a root canal without anesthetics".
