Google said to be launching its own smart display this year

Google made Smart Displays could possibly be on the way by the end of the year

That could change later this year, according to a new report. She said, that Google is targeting to ship 3 million units as a first batch. The device would compete with the Amazon Echo Show.

I'm just going to guess that's the kind of blandly generic name this device is going to get - is reportedly going to be a big part of Google's smart-home device plans. All are Android Things-powered touch screens running Google Assistant, with front-facing cameras. According to the research firm, Google had a spectacularly strong three month period with year-over-growth in shipments hitting 420%.

Google retained its first-place position from the previous quarter, with 5.4 million shipments of its Google Home models. While Amazon remains the leader in the number of integrated apps, Google is closing the gap and is using tight integration with its own services to further benefit users. The Amazon Echo Show has a 7-inch display, and the smaller Echo Spot has a 2.5-inch screen.

Right now, we don't have any pricing information or availability dates, but we can guess the Smart Display will be introduced this October along with the new Pixel 3, Pixel Watch, and updated Pixelbook. We are also unaware of the exact time of their working on these devices.

Four brands led the way, making up approximately 87 percent of all smart speakers sold: Google at 32.3 percent, Amazon at 24.5 percent, Alibaba at 17.7 percent and Xiaomi at 13.2 percent. It states that Google has contacted suppliers in Taiwan to ramp up production of all items required for a smart speaker with display. The Web giant already sells two smart speakers, albeit without screens, the Home Max, which earned an "excellent" rating in PCMag's review, and the Home Mini, which earned "good" marks. Given we've yet to see anything launch from Lenovo or JBL here, and LG aren't bringing their Smart Display to Australia it seems we may have quite the choice by the time Smart Displays hit our shores.
