Benches clear twice after Braves rookie Acuna hit by Marlins' opening pitch

Ronald Acuña Vlad Guerrero Jr. or Juan Soto Who ya got

Atlanta Braves rookie Ronald Acuña Jr. has spent the week abusing Miami Marlins pitching after leading off the first three games of the series with a home run.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said Urena's pitch was "clearly intentional" and hopes the Miami hurler faces discipline.

Acuña crushed the Marlins so badly with three straight games with a home run against them that they lost each one of those contests and then resorted to potentially injuring him so he couldn't keep stomping them into the ground. "Makes no sense; just because a player is having fun playing the game, swinging the bat incredibly well obviously; that just makes no sense".

Snitker believed Urena meant to hit Acuna with the pitch. The training staff signed off on Acuna returning after a CT scan on his elbow was normal.

Major League Baseball did not take long to suspend Jose Ureña for hitting Ronald Acuña in Wednesday's game, but the suspension was not enough.

Acuña was in a considerable amount of pain - he ended up leaving the game in the second inning - and Atlanta's coaches and players weren't happy with Urena, leaving the dugout to protest what they thought was an intentional hit-by-pitch.

The Braves won the game 5-2 to complete a four-game sweep.

"That kid didn't deserve that".

"I don't understand it", he said, via ESPN.com. "That was incredibly classless on Jose Urena's part".

"I made the bad pitch", Urena said.

Acuna, 20, entered the game on a rare power streak. He hit two homers in Tuesday night's 10-6 win over the Marlins.

Urena has a history of control problems. He became the first player to hit leadoff shots in three straight games since Baltimore's Brady Anderson led off with homers in four straight games in 1996. Adam Duvall replaced him in left field.
