Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Simon Belmont & King K. Rool Reveal Trailer

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Returns with Castlevania's Simon Belmont and Way More Info

Most stages will feature a new brushed up look, but stages from the original Nintendo 64 version of Smash Bros will retain their classic look. Ultimate-and, from the look of it, there's a lot to look forward to. Ultimate Limited Edition, it will be available the same time the regular version of the game, December 7. Richter Belmont, a descendant of Simon Belmont and the star of his own Castlevania games, also joins the Super Smash Bros. As you may expect, they're based on Samus and Marth respectively, though unlike Richter their play styles and attacks vary slightly from their base characters. Tunes are tied to franchises, so, for instance, you can now listen to any The Legend of Zelda track you want when playing on a Zelda-themed stage. There's a new sound test option where all the songs are grouped by series. The dock will plug into the Switch console itself, seemingly allowing for up to 4 GameCube controllers to be used at any given time.

After today, it's definitely clear that Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be unlike any Smash Bros game we've seen before. Bosses from across the #Castlevania series will appear in this stage, so watch out!

Classic mode returns in Super Smash Bros. Adding to the Final Smash Ball, there's a new option where players fill up a Final Smash meter over the course of a battle. We haven't had one of those since The Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Each stage in the game will also support eight-player battles (additional accessories may be required for multiplayer modes and are sold separately) and feature the ability to turn off hazards like the Yellow Devil in Wily Castle. This single-player mode is pretty straightforward, as it simply challenges players to fight through a line up of different characters, culminating with a fight against Master Hand (or at least that's the way it's worked in previous games).

Nintendo held a special Smash Bros Direct event to reveal details on of the upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Switch.

There was a blurred icon on the first page of the main menu, with a objective to be revealed later.
