Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson targeting $10 million Thanksgiving duel

Here’s When, Where Tiger Woods-Phil Mickelson Showdown Reportedly Will Happen

Details are starting to emerge regarding the high stakes one-on-one matchup between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

An original date of July 3 failed to transpire and ESPN now report the match will take place on Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas, either on Friday, November 23 or Saturday, November 24.

While the purse has not yet been finalized, previous reports set the winner-take-all prize at $10 million.

The match between two of the sport's greatest golfers will either be held November 23 or November 24 at Shadow Creek Golf Course, ESPN reported Thursday.

Woods, of course, is also playing in the upcoming WCG Invitational at Bridgestone over the weekend, as he looks to top his second-place finish at Valspar earlier this year.

"We are still working on it", Woods said. It is not clear if the two will put up their own money in the challenge.

Mickelson, 48, won the WGC-Mexico Championship in March, marking his first PGA Tour win in five years. Neither player needs the money, but both are fierce competitors and with Woods back in form he deserves the favourite tag, " said sportsbet.com.au's Will Byrne.

"I just think it would be something that would be really fun for us to do, and I think there would be a lot of interest in it if we just went straight to the final round", he said.

"It's not there yet, but certainly we are working on it and trying to make it happen".

The two have been rivals over the years, but have been seen together paired up for practice rounds and sharing spots on the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
