"He's kind of used sport to... divide us and that's something I can't relate to, because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white".

James has also spoken about the tradition of athletes visiting the White House after a championship win, saying: "Going to the White House was a great honour until you showed up". Lemon nor James has responded to Trump's tweet.

Incidentally, prior to his criticism of James, Trump retweeted a quote from Pastor Darrell Scott calling Trump "the most pro-black president that we've had in our lifetime". And I realized "this is all because of sports'".

"We got your back @KingJames Someone sure sound like they wish they was you.", tweeted linebacker Bobby Wagner of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. "And I was like, 'Oh wow, this is all because of sports'".

He continued, "The basketball thing, I love it and enjoy it, but to give back and open a school, that's something that will last way beyond my years".

"For me, everything where I grew up was on top of the refrigerator", he explained. Basically, the basketball world has not only gotten conditioned to watching James participate in the playoffs, but the standard operating procedure has been watching him and his teams compete for a championship. I think that's one of the greatest accomplishments in sports history. On Monday, James was in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, to welcome children to his I Promise School, which was built as part of a partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron City Schools.

James backed Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2016 United States presidential election. "I know the streets that they walk".

When Lemon pressed James if he would consider running for president, he eventually said, "Let's see first".

"For someone to try to divide us by using our platform of sport?" he told Nichols.

Queried on what he'd say to Trump if they were face to face, he was quick to say, "I would never sit across from him".
