Apple new iPad Pro will come with more courage, fewer headphone jacks

Apple's next iPad Pros tipped to get smaller and lose the headphone jack

Obviously the fact that it killed off cheaper better headphones from rivals didn't enter into it. Apple can't be facing the same space constraints in the iPad Pro.

It seems the edges of the iPad Pro will sport a diamond cut design for the front and back. According to a report by Macotakara, Apple is planning to remove the 3.5mm audio jack from its iPad Pro lineup this year.

As possible justification, Mac Otakara points out that it's "impossible to release the lock with the main unit turned sideways", implying that Apple may have moved the Smart Connector because Face ID will only work when the tablet is in a vertical orientation. The 10.5-inch variant could be just 247.5mm high, 178.7mm wide, and 6mm thick, which are slightly smaller dimensions than the current model. Likewise, for 3rd generation iPad Pro (12.9-inch) the dimensions will be 280mm height, 215mm in width and 6.4mm thickness. The slimmer bezels at the top and bottom are good enough to surround the Face ID area at the top and the display controller at the bottom.

The current iPad Pro models run Apple's A10X Fusion chip and come in three storage options- 64GB, 256GB and 512GB.

The design of the new iPhones are nearly identical to Apple's current iPhone X. The 6.5-inch model, for instance, looks exactly like the iPhone X, aside from the fact that it's only bigger in size.

With that, the new iPad Pro models are also expected to ditch the Home button, and could also include TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. There's no confirmation on the names of the upcoming iPhones for now, but there are details about the features, design, specs and price of the new iPhones floating all around the internet. Although we can't say for sure what that means exactly, it is likely implying that the new iPad Pros will be able to vertically dock into the Smart Keyboard.

Plus, typing vertically instead of horizontally sounds like a poor use of the iPad Pro's size and functionality. The report claims it's impossible to unlock the tablet when it's in landscape mode, so users will have to turn the device upright to unlock it. Hints of Apple reportedly working on "horizontal Face ID" for the iPad Pro were found in iOS 12.
