Twitter suspends two accounts linked to 12 Russians indicted by Mueller

Rod Rosenstein announces new indictments against Russian intelligence officer in hacking the DNC during the 2016 presidential campaign

Robert Mueller's Special Counsel's Office investigation indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers for hacking offenses related to the 2016 presidential campaign. Clinton sent about 60,000 emails during her time in the Obama administration, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation did not have access to all of them; her staff deleted about half because they were private.

"It means that they are competitive", he said.

In all, the Russian officials and their co-conspirators targeted more than 300 people associated with the Clinton campaign and other Democratic Party organizations starting in March 2016, the indictment says.

The dynamics of Monday's meeting between the two world leaders are complicated by the allegations of Russian meddling in the US election and the special counsel's search for links between Russia and members of President Trump's campaign. Trump said Friday before the indictment was released that he planned to ask Putin about Russia's election interference. US intelligence officials issued a public warning about the hacking in October. After crashing through Western Europe, insulting America's oldest and strongest allies, the 45th president confirmed that he has a weak spot for a Russian leader who is a real authoritarian bully-boy, not just someone who pretends to be tough on television or the campaign trail. I think in Russian Federation they wouldn't be gone so easily. I have President Putin - he just said it's not Russian Federation.

The Kremlin has regularly rejected any suggestion that it meddled in the US election.

Deputy White House press secretary Lindsay Walters said there is no evidence tying the Trump campaign to hacking attempts.

"I think the DNC should be ashamed of themselves for allowing themselves to be hacked", Trump said.

On Aug. 15, 2016, the indictment says, Guccifer 2.0 reached out to someone in contact with the Trump campaign and asked the person if they had seen anything "interesting in the docs I posted?" "I think that the probe is a disaster for our country".

On Thursday, FBI agent Peter Strzok testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee for 10 hours regarding texts he sent using an FBI phone that slammed Trump at the same time he was investigating Hillary Clinton's use of a private server for email.

"And I heard that they were trying, or people were to hack into the RNC too, the Republican National Committee, but we had much better defenses", he continued.

Issa called Mueller's indictments "odd-timed", and added that they involved "people who can never be brought to justice and for whom there's even a question of how do we know" they engaged in election meddling.

Some researchers said the indictment might have depended on United States signals intelligence, the fruits of which are rarely revealed because it quotes electronic messages sent to an unidentified organization presumed to be London-based WikiLeaks.
