Trump Calls European Union a ‘Foe’ of the United States

German Chancellor Angela Merkel left US President Donald Trump and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras pose for a family

The U.S. has no extradition treaty with Moscow and can't compel Russian Federation to hand over citizens.

President Donald Trump says "nothing bad ... maybe some good" will come out of his summit Monday with Russia's Vladimir Putin in Finland.

Trump said he was approaching the Putin meeting "with low expectations..." "I go in with low expectations", he said. Russia's constitution also prohibits turning over citizens to foreign governments.

"I think the DNC should be ashamed of themselves for allowing themselves to be hacked", Trump told CBS News.

Before Trump left the USA for Europe, Trump had predicted that his summit with Putin, scheduled for Monday in Helsinki, would be the "easiest" of all the meetings planned during his packed few days on the continent. "Putin told him he didn't do it, and he believed him". He then added that "Russia is foe in certain respects", and that China was one economically, though he insisted that he wasn't judging the countries to be "bad", but just meant that they were "competitive".

"But as I agreed with President Trump in our discussions last week, we must engage from a position of unity and strength", she said.

"I hadn't thought of that", Trump said.

Trump and Putin meet later Monday at the palace.

Bolton was scheduled to appear on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday, but was pulled by White House officials on Saturday.

Trump has said he will raise the issue of Russian election meddling, along with Syria, Ukraine, nuclear proliferation and other topics.

His meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong Un ended with a decision by Trump to end US-South Korean military exercises, much to the surprise of Seoul and Tokyo.

Finland has a long legacy of hosting US-Russian summits because of its perceived neutrality and geographic location, as per several media reports.

At last, Donald Trump will get the chance to meet with Vladimir Putin at the formal summit both men have been seeking for months.

The Kremlin on Friday said it considered Mr Trump a "negotiating partner".

The US president left the Brussels talks in disarray after setting a January deadline for other alliance members to increase defence spending and hinting that the US may quit North Atlantic Treaty Organisation if they failed to do so.

Trump congratulated Putin on a successful World Cup on his way to Helsinki in an ingratiating move.

The Kentucky senator noted that the U.S.

"It shows that the justice system, the Department of Justice, are aware of these Russian efforts in election meddling, and I think the president can put this on the table and say, 'This is a serious matter that we need to talk about".
