Ant-Man And The Wasp: After-Credits Scenes Explained

Hannah John Kamen as Ghost in a scene from Ant Man and the Wasp

The glinting purple eyes lead us to believe that it's actually Dormammu being projected from the Dark Dimension - remember, it's affixed to the Quantum Realm by way of Marvel's Multiverse - which only spells bad news for Scott Lang as he bides his time until Avengers 4.

But just in case you did leave - or just in case you stuck around but aren't quite sure what you just witnessed - here's what you need to know about the end credits scenes of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The mid-credits scene is the one that has the most significance to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because it shows Scott Lang fiddling about inside the Quantum Realm, which the film tells us is a very risky place. This time out, the trio seek to rescue Hope's mom Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the Quantum Realm, all while battling the occasionally intangible Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) - and then there's the question of where all this ties into the cosmic battle being faced by the MCU's other heroes in Avengers: Infinity War. But with Scott presumably trapped inside the Quantum Realm, it remains to be seen how he will escape. Or maybe he even learns about Thanos and attempts to warn the Avengers of his presence early on in the MCU's running timeline? The TV is showing only the "Emergency Broadcast System" signal - probably as a result of the mayhem caused by Thanos. The ant who'd subbed in for Scott's daily routine is not only home, he's having the time of his life banging on Scott's electric drum kit. Do the stakes in superhero movies really matter?

There's basically an endless list of possibilities revolving around the Quantum Realm. This definitely makes the top ten of greatest Stan Lee cameos and fans already can not wait to see where he ends up in Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. Marvel fans looking for something to take the edge off may find themselves embracing the adventures of the charming duo that is Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.

It's also worth considering that the Quantum Realm may have literally been out of reach of Thanos's snap all together, and thus, in one way or another, immune to the Infinity Stones' powers.

Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, appears to also take place over the course of a few days.

According to leaked set photos from Avengers 4 and popular theories, it's possible that there will be some time-trickery going on in the highly anticipated sequel.
