USA congressional delegation hopes Putin-Trump summit will be successful - senator

APPresident Donald Trump meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 Summit in Hamburg

The White House announced Thursday that that the leaders of the US and Russia Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet on July 16 in Helsinki, Finland, where they will "discuss relations between the United States and Russia and a range of national security issues". "That's why the president is going to speak with him about it again". "The US does not want, that someone interfered in the elections".

The July 16 US-Russia summit in Helsinki could reset a relationship dogged by decades of risky rivalry.

They had previously met on the sidelines of a G-20 gathering in Germany and an Asian Pacific conference in Vietnam past year.

"We'll see what Russian Federation does", Trump said.

"I think the problem for any European leader is (that) you just don't know what the response is going to be when you need America's help", he said.

"We'll be talking about elections".

Bolton met with Putin last week to lay the groundwork for the meeting and said Putin continued to dismiss allegations of interference.

"The Russian president has repeatedly stated and explained to his interlocutors that such an issue as Crimea can not and will never be on the agenda because Crimea is an integral part of Russia", Peskov said, Russian state news agency Tass reported. "We'll be talking about world events", Trump said yesterday.

The president has repeatedly questioned the actions of the FBI in connection with their investigation of Clinton's email use.

At the Singapore Summit, 'Kim Jong-Un said to me: The two of us have to get a picture together. "We've seen how the North Koreans have behaved before. We're going to pursue this, and we'll see what happens".

Trump called for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the group just before departing for a G-7 summit this month.

Trump has long called for warmer ties with Moscow, but the talks come as Russia's relations with the West languish at levels not seen since the Cold War.

The Helsinki summit will be Mr. Trump's 3rd set of meetings with Putin after the G20 in Hamburg in July 2017 and the APEC Summit in Da Nang, in November 2017. "Russia continues to say they had nothing to do with Meddling in our Election!" he wrote.

Since coming to power a year ago, Trump has sought to improve relations with Putin amid tensions between Moscow and the West.

The European Union and United States originally imposed the sanctions to penalize Russian Federation for its illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 and its backing of separatists fighting against the Ukrainian government forces in eastern Ukraine.
