Opportunity! Amazon Wants You to Deliver Its Packages

Amazon wants you to start a business to deliver its packages

Online retailer Amazon.com has been looking for a while to find a way to have more control over how its packages are delivered.

A Nigerian Olaoluwa Abimbola is the beneficiary of Amazon's new and radical delivery business. They don't have to lease the Amazon blue vans, but if they do, those vehicles can only be used to deliver Amazon packages, the company said.

By not relying entirely on partners like FedEx and USPS, Amazon gets more control over the customer experience, better customer service and greater capacity to make more next-day and same-day deliveries, Sebastian said.

Amazon has been doing some major things lately, like extending Prime membership benefits to their Whole Foods locations and launching a new service that allows delivery people access the inside of your vehicle to drop off packages.

According to Business Insider, Amazon will offer incentives to whoever wants to run a courier business delivering packages for their new program, Delivery Service Partners.

Drivers will be full-time workers instead of contractors, and Amazon will require business owners to give them paid time off and other benefits.

Dave Clark, Amazon's senior vice-president of worldwide operations, said the new programme is not a response to President Donald Trump, who has insisted that Amazon should pay the United States Postal Service more for shipping its packages, but a way to make sure that the company can deliver its growing number of orders.

Clark said he expects the companies to join the program with 20 to 40 trucks will employ about 100 drivers. The entrepreneur will be responsible for hiring delivery people, and Amazon would be the customer, paying the business to pick up packages from its 75 delivery centers around the country and delivering them to shopper's doorsteps. He says he's "loving" his new business and has already hired more than 40 employees who work "fairly regular hours" and "are encouraged to take breaks". As we evaluated how to support our growth, we went back to our roots to share the opportunity with small-and-medium-sized businesses. "All we have to do is show up".

Cowen analyst John Blackledge, who rates Amazon at Outperform with a $2,000 price target, predicts in a report issued today that 34% of the company's packages will not be delivered by the USPS, UPS, or FedEx in five years, compared with 17% today.
