Google Home and Chromecast outage hits users worldwide

Google Home and Chromecast Down Due to Technical Issue Affecting Users Globally

In any case, it might be a little while before you can use your Chromecast or Google Home device again.

"The fact that it's been twelve hours my Chromecast has not been working and we're only now finding out there's an issue because of @madebygoogle that is ridiculous", wrote one Twitter user.

As it would be nearly impossible to ignore all of the comments online from customers who are experiencing downtime, Google has acknowledged the issue and states that a fix is being worked on.

"We're sorry to hear some of our users are experiencing issues with their Google Home and Chromecast". The option to stream video to the Chromecast has disappeared from apps including Netflix and YouTube, according to customer reports.

A Google spokeswoman also recognised the malfunction is affecting Chromecast dongles too.

Those complaining to the Made By Google account on Twitter have been advised to reboot their smart speaker and their WiFi router. Those who wanted to get the fix sooner could manually reboot their devices, said Google. Google's smart speaker line includes the Home, Home Max and Home Mini.

Users on the west coast of America began alerting Google to the outages on Tuesday evening Pacific time. If you would like an immediate fix please follow the directions to reboot your device.

Google has yet to resolve the issue or provide a timeframe to consumers indicating when it will be resolved, as of now, the problem has been running for more than 6 hours now. The forums of Google Home Help are loaded with complaints and panicked queries of users wanting to know what has caused this dire situation and left them without access.
