Fernando Hierro warns Spain to remain fully focused ahead of Morocco clash

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has been an offensive force at the 2018 World Cup now underway

Portugal do come into this game with a couple of injury concerns.

"It's going to be a fascinating game". In the case of teams finishing level on points, Federation Internationale de Football Association has put in place seven tie-breakers starting with goal difference and then the number of goals scored in all group matches.

Morocco had failed to score in its opening two fixtures at Russian Federation 2018, despite two creditable performances, and had little to play for. The record still lies with Ramos' former team-mate Iker Casillas, who has played 17 World Cup matches for Spain.

At about noon on Monday, Portugal players had a quick walk around the hotel, but did not tour around the city as they did before other matches in Russian Federation.

Hierro, who took charge for the showpiece, said he could see similarities between his group and the successful 2010 team.

"We know that Morocco are an excellent team, they reached the finals of a World Cup after not being here for many years".

After a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw with Portugal in their opening Group B game, Spain pulled off a narrow 1-0 win over Iran. If the goal did not count, Spain would be in second place behind Portugal.

A draw will be enough to guarantee Portugal progress, though Iran can qualify for the second round for the first time if they can beat Portugal. After a heroic hat trick in the opener against Spain, Ronaldo slotted home his team's only goal in their win over Morocco.

The game kicks off at 7pm, with Spain and Morocco at the same time. If Russia manages to avoid defeat against Uruguay in its final group clash, it will top the table. Uruguay need to win to take the group. "If it wins and Denmark loses, it will nearly certainly advance, although Denmark could still get through with a few odd score combinations, such as Denmark losing by one in a high-scoring game and Australia winning by one in a low-scoring affair". They don't allow the others to rest.

Argentina have picked up three yellow cards and Iceland have none.

Peru have been eliminated but will finish third with a win. Croatia have six points and Nigeria have three points, while Argentina and Iceland both have one point. However it was not a cakewalk for Portugal, as Morocco owned the statistical part of the match, out possessing Portugal 54%-46% and outshooting the Portuguese 16-10 and 4-2 in terms of shots on goal.

France, Croatia and Mexico have also advanced due to two wins.

The Koreans need a two-goal plus win over Germany and Sweden to lose to sneak in.

Germany's sensational last-minute victor against Sweden has made this one of the most complex group situations - Mexico and South Korea could join either of those teams in the last 16.

While Argentina have toiled in Group D, South American rivals Brazil look set to make it through Group E - even though their passage has not been straightforward with two late goals needed to down Costa Rica in their last match.
