Apple AirPower Tipped To Launch September

Wireless Charging

Apple is reportedly aiming to release its AirPower charging pad before or in September.

Engineers are said to be fixing software bugs as well since Apple is relying on custom chips so that users can place their devices anywhere on the mat to charge them. When the AirPower charging mat does actually make it to market, consumers will be able to use it to charge iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Apple Watch, and even a new AirPods Charging Case when it's released. The company hasn't mentioned it since, even at its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month. "The multi-device charging mechanism is challenging to build because it likely requires different sized charging components for the three types of devices, which would all overlap across the mat", states the Bloomberg report.

The next step was wireless charging for the iPhone, the ability to drop Apple's flagship product on a charging mat and juice it up via a process known as induction.

Apple hasn't discussed AirPower publicly since it was first announced last September. Something that its rival - the Qi wireless pad - lacks as one can only charge single device at a time.

Beyond the release date, there are still other mysteries surrounding AirPower.

So, why has it taken so long for Apple, with all its design and manufacturing prowess, to deliver a simple wireless charging mat?

Unlike existing wireless chargers, however, AirPower was to be something different.

Apple unveiled the AirPower at a press event last September.

It needs to be ideal if Apple's longer-term ambitions for wireless charging are to be cleanly executed, mind.

The AirPower charger should bolster this business - when it finally arrives.

Sources have said that the delay in the release might be intentional as well, once more indicating the possibility of Apple removing the Lightning Port in the upcoming models. It seems that Apple has been experiencing unexpected issues with the hardware which has delayed the launch.

Removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was just the start for Apple when it came to limiting options for the average user. Contributions of 200 words or more will be considered for publication.
