Why some big-name producers are ‘disgusted’ with Fox News

'Modern Family' creator joins Judd Apatow, Seth MacFarlane in condemning Fox News

Over the weekend, "Family Guy" co-creator Seth MacFarlane said Fox News made him "embarrassed to work for this company".

Locally, Southern California Public Radio and KPCC are expected to apply their portion of MacFarlane's gift to supporting local public radio reporting projects.

"If you're looking to understand what's actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they're telling you on the big news stations", Carlson said Friday on his talk show.

"In other words, don't think critically, don't consult multiple news sources, and in general, don't use your brain", replied MacFarlane.

Over the weekend, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane (a CT native and Rhode Island School of Design alum) tweeted that he was "embarrassed" to work for Fox because of "fringe s***" that aired on Fox News. The Fox News Channel prime-time host tried to walk back her remarks even before her show concluded Monday night, but the damage had already been done.

Hollywood producers and directors have criticised 21st Century Fox and threatened to boycott the network over its coverage of the controversial U.S. immigration practice of separating children from their parents.

"I have great respect for Dana Walden, Gary Newman, Peter Rice, and everyone at 20th Century Fox Studios who have all treated me so well for two decades", he said.

Feig tweeted, "I have made two films for 20th Century Fox and love the people in the movie and TV divisions".

In tweets later on Tuesday, Levitan suggested he would no longer work for 20th Century Fox after the current "Modern Family" deal ends in a year. The ownership of the 20th Century Fox television and film studios, which are sister companies to Fox News, are now up for grabs, the subject of a bidding war between Disney and Comcast. "For now, I will take some time to see where those people land, and at that point, make a decision about my future".

But internal tensions have boiled over in the wake of Fox News' coverage of the Trump administration and its policies toward immigration.

Carlson on Monday said those speaking out against the issue don't care "about helping children".

Veteran producer Judd Apatow has urged Fox talent to mount pressure on the company over its immigration coverage, demanding of the studio's stars and executives: "Imagine if it was your kids". "How can you remain silent when they promote these policies?" As he tweeted on Tuesday, "Who is next?"
