Giuliani: Michael Cohen Isn't Cooperating And Won't Flip

Report: Michael Cohen ‘Likely’ to Cooperate With Federal Prosecutors

ABC News reported on Wednesday that Cohen may be poised to cooperate with federal prosecutors in NY after his lawyers stopped representing him in the Manhattan US attorney's investigation. This separation appears to be related to money.

Let's try to put this in context.

Under deep financial pressure, Cohen plans to hire a new lawyer for the next phase of the probe, the person said. Cohen's office, hotel room and home were searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in April.

[A] source representing this matter has disclosed to ABC News that [Harrison and Ryan] are not expected to represent him going forward... Over the past week everyone has been so focused on the trivia of President Trump blowing up the G7 and fawning over Kim like a schoolboy with his first crush that we nearly missed the news that the White House is in nuclear meltdown over Michael Cohen. This development, which is believed to be imminent, will likely hit the White House, family members, staffers and counsels hard.

The special master, retired judge Barbara Jones, reported earlier this month that only 162 of the first 292,000 items she reviewed should be withheld on those grounds.

According to the Associated Press, Cohen has been represented in an FBI investigation of his business dealings since 2017 by Stephen Ryan, a Washington lawyer he initially hired to prepare him for congressional testimony.

"Not a good look and a disaster for Mr. Cohen and Mr. Trump", he said.

Cohen, 51, did not immediately return a request for comment. NBC News' Katy Tur also reported that Cohen expected to be arrested soon.

Hannity asked: "So, they funneled it through a law firm?" All non-priviliged items will be turned over to federal prosecutors. But after that review is finished, he will seek new legal counsel, the people familiar with his case said.

This claim was also made by Fox Business reporter Charles Gasparino in a tweet.

"There's nothing that he can cooperate about with regard to President Trump", Giuliani said. Cohen's attorney at the time of the raids released a terse statement shortly after the April raids arguing that the seized documents included "the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney-client communications between a lawyer and his clients". "Lots of talk right now".
