Duchess of Sussex Makes Her Trooping of the Colour Debut

Prince Harry Duke of Sussex and Meghan Duchess of Sussex during Trooping The Colour

For those unfamiliar, the Trooping of the Colour is the most highly-anticipated event in the royal calendar (well, aside from last month's Royal Wedding, of course) and is steeped in English tradition. The Queen's husband, 96-year-old Prince Philip, has retired from royal duties.

In Cheshire, they'll undertake classic royal duties: opening a bridge, officially cutting a ribbon at a cultural centre that's actually been going since previous year, and finally, a lunch at the Chester Town Hall.

A turban-wearing soldier of the Coldstream Guards became the first Sikh soldier to figure in the widely watched traditional Trooping the Colour ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Saturday, the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth.

Today's ceremony was also the first royal outing for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, since she returned from her honeymoon.

After arriving at the palace, the royals assembled on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch a fly-by by the Royal Air Force.

The ceremony culminates with a magnificent balcony appearance by the Royal Family.

As she stood in front of Kate Middleton and Prince William waving, the little royal appeared to stumble backwards - as if she fell off a small step she was standing on.

Riding in the ceremony for the first time is the Duke of York in his new role as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

With the two-month mark coming up very soon, it's likely royal fans will see Louis again at his upcoming christening that is rumored to take place in July-and we're counting down the days!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex followed suit by horse and carriage together with the Duke of Kent.

Bringing Prince Harry's new bride along with her is a "is a really positive sign of favour, encouragement and endorsement by the Queen", Robert Lacey, historical consultant for Netflix's "The Crown", tells People.

"I'm quite proud and I know that a lot of other people are proud of me as well", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.
