Messi wants Griezmann at Barcelona

Arsenal in shock Marouane Fellaini move with free transfer talks due

Atletico Madrid are already preparing Antoine Griezmann's new contract after the player chose to reject the offer from Barcelona, according to Cadena COPE radio station.

"He's going through an exceptional moment in his career".

French publication Foot 365 has claimed that Arsenal are due to meet with the player's representatives this week over a potential move to the Emirates.

To that end, reports on Monday have suggested that new Arsenal manager Unai Emery has resurrected his interest in Fellaini, having wanted to sign him for Paris Saint-Germain at one point, and talks are scheduled to take place between the two parties this week.

The France global is available for €100 million (£88m) due to a release clause in his deal with Atletico, and Barcelona are at the front of the queue to sign the striker. As Giraldo noted, Griezmann previously said he will make a choice before the FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 14.

The France forward has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, who could activate the £89m release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

Griezmann would be able to fill a number of different roles for Barcelona, as he's operated at the point of the attack, as a support striker and occasionally in advanced wide positions for Atletico.

"We have already seen other players signing for Barcelona and not reaching the levels they were used to at other teams because there is a really top-level player making the difference at Barcelona".

His worldwide team-mate Umtiti - who signed a five-year deal with Barca on Monday - said Griezmann would be a welcome recruit at Camp Nou.
