Kashmir man crushed by paramilitary force vehicle

A youth was crushed to death while another sustained injuries after a vehicle of Indian paramilitary force ran them over in Srinagar, Kashmir Media Service reported.

Soon a speedy CRPF vehicle that came from Khanyar drove into the protesters.

Two youths were critically injured after they were run over by the CRPF vehicle during clashes between protestors and government forces in Nowhatta in Srinagar on Friday. The incident sparked massive protests in the area and clashes between the demonstrators and the Indian forces' personnel.

Ahmed died on Friday after being run over by a CRPF vehicle outside Jamia Masjid-Kashmir's largest mosque-after he offered prayers.

Qaiser succumbed to his injuries at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Saturday.

The deceased identified as Adil Ahmad can be seen throwing stones at occupant forces during a protest in the video when an armoured vehicle mowed him down, leaving severely injured.

Seven civilians were also injured at Aknoor, near the contested territory's border with Pakistan, in a barrage that claimed the lives of two Indian border officers.

This was followed by two more grenade explosions - one at Maisuma in central Srinagar, injuring one CRPF jawan and a civilian, and the other near the police control room.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, from the main opposition party in the region, criticised the current head of the state Mehbooba Mufti, whose People's Democratic Party is ruling the state in a coalition with Hindu right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party.

In a statement, the Joint Resistance Leaders (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said the "killing spree continues in Kashmir despite Ramadhan ceasefire". Now they just drive their jeeps right over protestors.

The mourners were marching with the man's body to a graveyard in Srinagar on Saturday when police and soldiers used force to stop them. The mob tried to take the officer and his escort out of the vehicle. Sharma further said that if the police arrest their driver, the CRPF would contest the charge.
