76ers President Bryan Colangelo Denies Blasting Embiid, Others Via Twitter

Joel Embiid set up a windmill by throwing the ball off a helpless defender's face in pickup game

Colangelo may have denied the report to Embiid, but as the Sixers star also said, all he can do is believe him until proven otherwise.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski weighed in on the story shortly after, claiming to have spoken to Embiid.

Colangelo acknowledged using one of the accounts to monitor the National Basketball Association industry and other current events but said he wasn't familiar with the four others.

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo has denied a report connecting himself to Twitter accounts that have criticized several league executives, coaches, and Sixers players from the past and present including Joel Embiid.

The Ringer said in its report that it has been monitoring the accounts since February, when it received an anonymous tip about the accounts.

The same accounts also took shots at current Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri, who worked under and then eventually replaced Colangelo with the team, as well as previous 76ers GM Sam Hinkie, who began the Sixers' arduous rebuild dubbed "The Process".

"Like many of my colleagues in sports, I have used social media as a means to keep up with the news", the statement said.

In a bombshell report by Ben Detrick of The Ringer, Colangelo was linked to accounts that called Embiid "a bit lazy", "selfish", and "acting like a tool". But the only one of the five that Colangelo, who issued a statement to The Ringer on Tuesday, would admit to owning was the @phila1234567 account which followed several National Basketball Association personalities, but never posted a tweet of its own.

I really don't know how to describe my emotions or my reaction to this whole thing as this just happened 5 hours ago at this time of writing the piece, but a few things I do have a few thoughts. A message was left by The Associated Press seeking comment from the Sixers.

According to The Ringer, one of the Twitter accounts it connected to Colangelo bristled at the suggestion that Hinkie deserved credit for the Sixers' turnaround.

Embiid told ESPN he accepts Colangelo's explanation, but also went to Twitter to poke fun at his general manager.

Suffice it to say Joel Embiid has seen the report about Bryan Colangelo's alleged burner account bonanza. Colangelo confirmed Tuesday that only one was an account belonging to him.
