Kim Kardashian visits Trump to make clemency plea for drug-trafficking grandmother

A trend? And it appears as though it's not the first time this has happened with an additional eagle eyed follower writing'They forgot about Chicago...AGAIN

Kim Kardashian West is planning on visiting the White House Wednesday in a bid to free 62-year-old great-grandmother Alice Marie Johnson, who's been locked up in prison for 21 years on a first-time drug offence.

Johnson, a grandmother now in her early sixties, is more than two decades into a life sentence for a first-time conviction based on her role in a drug-trafficking case.

President Trump's meeting with the reality show starlet to discuss the weighty issue of prison reform spawned a collection of poignant and hilarious commentary on social media.

Vanity Fair first reported that Kardashian would interact with Trump in person.

"I can confirm she'll be here", said Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

On the down low, reality television star Kim Kardashian West has been currying favor with Jared Kushner for months. The group Change.org has put together an online petition on her behalf, and she tops the non-profit group Can-Do's list of convicted women who deserve a reprieve.

Kim Kardashian West has arrived at The White House to discuss prison law reform with President Donald Trump. "And so far, the White House has been really receptive to my calls, and I'm grateful for that", she told Mic last month.

It's not clear if Kardashian West will meet with President Donald Trump.

Kardashian hasn't made a public statement about the meeting yet, aside from tweeting the birthday message for Alice Marie Johnson.

"She could have just saw the video or read an article or whatever and just said "oh that's a shame" or whatever and went on with her life, but she didn't, she chose to get involved in a major way", Johnson told ABC. A change.org petition asking Trump to grant Johnson clemency has also nearly reached its goal of 300,000 supporter signatures as of Wednesday.

Trump responded in kind, thanking West for a tweet in which the Grammy-winning musician praised the president's "dragon energy". "When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on that bus (the same year that I was born - 1955). that was a defining moment".

"She explained, "[I'm] trying to bring her case to the president's desk and figure out how we can get her out. Perhaps. Considering Trump's friendly relationship with her husband, West, and his affinity for celebrities who treat him well, it's likely.

Johnson was expected to be released under President Barack Obama, but was passed over when he granted clemency to more than 200 people for similar nonviolent offenses in December 2016.
