Things You Probably Missed In The Epic Pokemon Let’s GO Switch Trailer

Pokémon: Let's Go is a new Nintendo Switch game that connects to Pokemon Go

While this isn't a core Pokemon RPG, it is developed by main series studio Game Freak and will be coming to both the Nintendo Switch and smartphones. You'll be able to choose either as a starter in each game, but encounter rates among other things will change.

No word yet on when the game will arrive on mobile platforms (or which, for that matter), but the Switch version can be downloaded from the Switch eShop right now.

Although we were initially skeptical about the announcement, after consulting a few Pokemon franchise veterans and a few fellow gaming journalists, we are inclined to believe that this announcement will reference Pokemon GO in a number of ways. Nintendo's partnership with Pokemon is deep. Players also benefit from a new local multiplayer function, which makes catching Pokemon and battling NPCs a lot easier, similar to how players can take down gyms quicker when playing with a friend in Pokemon Go. When used on Pokemon Go, the controller can also be used to capture Pokemon in-game in place of needing to hold the smartphone and simulating the ball toss. They're created to be used during gameplay, and so that people can carry their Pokemon around with them. That's could be disappointing, given that Nintendo is planning to roll out its Switch online service in September. The event unveiled Pokemon Let's Go for the console and is slated to be released in November. Although details are scarce, Ishihara said the new game will focus more on the Switch as a portable handheld device, while the just-announced games are designed with home gaming in mind.

As for the whole "free-to-start" thing, players can expect to get a taste for the game without having to drop any of their hard-earned cash on the experience.
