Teacher who stopped Noblesville shooter: My actions ‘were the only acceptable actions’

Ronda Rousey Says She'd be Willing to Have Wounded Indiana Teacher Jason Seaman Walk Her to the Ring

A science teacher is credited with disarming a student suspected of opening fire at an IN middle school on Friday.

The Noblesville West Middle School shooting on Friday came a mere week after the Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas.

"As a person who isn't looking for attention, nor entirely comfortable with the situation I'm now in, I want to make it clear that my actions on that day, in my mind, were the only acceptable actions I could've done, given the circumstances", Seaman said at a brief press conference Monday. They released a statement saying they were still trying to process "what happened and why".

"We endured a horrific and senseless tragedy", Niedermeyer said, adding that support coming in from across the country has been a "source of strength and beauty during this ugly tragedy".

Thankfully, Seaman was not critically injured in the incident but he was forced to have surgery following the shooting. He says he acted because he cares deeply about his students.

A heroic teacher discuss his actions during last week's school shooting in Indiana.

But at a press conference Monday morning, 29-year-old Jason Seaman said he does not want to be called a hero. Seaman says her courage is "nothing short of remarkable".

Fortunately, Twitter users are keeping Jason Seaman in mind-as an example of the kind of courage, honor, and action in an era of inaction that we should all collectively strive toward. She also gave an update on Whistler.

"We are stronger together, and we will continue to amaze you".

Seaman, who has been a teacher and football coach at the middle school for four years, immediately ran at the gunman and tackled him to the ground, according to seventh-grader Ethan Stonebraker, who was in the classroom at the time. He was also a football player at Southern Illinois University. A local high school student launched the effort.

When asked to elaborate on his praise of the response, Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter said: "Wait 'til one day we can tell you that story". His actions saved the lives of many kids that were present in his class today.
