SpaceX Launches Bangabandhu Satellite 1 on Its Powerful Rocket Falcon 9

SpaceX PAZ Starlink Falcon 9

Falcon 9 rocket, aiming to bring astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in the future, came with many design changes to improve its reusability and reliability.

The recoverable Block-5 booster is created to be reused at least 10 times with minimal refurbishment between flights, allowing more frequent launches at lower cost - a key to the SpaceX business model. "Also, I would like to thank Russian Federation for giving us the opportunity to use their orbital slot".

Falcon 9, an upgraded rocket which can make back-to-back flights, lifted communication satellite Bangabandhu-1, named after the country's founder.

SpaceX is one of two private companies hired by NASA to ferry astronaut crews to the space station. The company seeks to reduce cost with the new Block 5.

Thousands of fired-up Bangladeshi-Americans and visitors from foreign countries witnessed the historic live rocket launch that left them in awe. The other is Boeing Co. The company won't allow for humans onboard until it's flown seven successful launches, but with the rate of SpaceX's overall launch and return success, those seven successful launches could happen sooner than expected.

Block 5 simply concretes SpaceX's business case.

The achievement was hailed by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a livestream appearance from her country's capital, Dhaka.

"Bangladesh started a glorious chapter in history with the launching of Bangabandhu-1 satellite as it has becomes a proud member of the satellite club from today", the president said in a message. C- band covers Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and portions of Kazakhstan.

The government took the Bangabandhu-1 project in May 2015 and assigned Thales Alenia by signing a $248-million deal in November of the same year.

The upgraded rocket model ensures enhanced reusability and carried a Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into geostationary orbit.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, Bangladesh's annual expenditure for satellite connectivity is now 14 million United States dollars spent on renting bandwidth from foreign operators.

Located at 119.1° East, Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will provide direct-to-home (DTH) services, video distribution and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communications across Bangladesh.
