LeBron leads Cavs sweep; Sixers dump Celtics, avoid sweep

LeBron James Klay Thompson Mychal Thompson

"Before the season began we all predicted it was going to be Cleveland versus Boston; Kyrie versus LeBron and we couldn't wait but Kyrie got hurt and he had to be out". But after that, he showed why he is the greatest basketball player of his generation.

Dribbling the length of the floor while outmaneuvering a Toronto defense created to stop him, James got to a spot where he felt comfortable, rose off his left foot and with his right hand softly dropped a shot he's practiced hundreds of times for this kind of moment.

"It's all action to me", James told ESPN after putting up 29 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Just like a year ago, the Raptors were mercilessly swept by Cleveland in the second round even though the Raptors brandished a better defense, a more 3-point oriented offense, and one of the strongest benches in the league. Going into the series, it was a foregone conclusion that James would dominate.

After Tristan Thompson made it 113-105 for the Cavs with a hook shot with barely two minutes left, the Raptors could barely scrounge for points to absorb the debacle that foretold of omens to come their way.

The Cavaliers as a team improved their shooting performance in this series, shooting 41.1 percent from beyond the arc in the second round.

Tristan Thompson registered 14 points and 12 rebounds, while J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver scored 20 and 19 points respectively in Game One.

If the Celtics can hold off the upstart 76ers, they would set up a rematch heavily anticipated since last season, when the Cavs beat the Celtics 4-1 to advance to the NBA Finals.

James and the Cavaliers have beaten the Raptors in 10 straight playoff games after beating Toronto in three straight postseasons. The Raptors had a double-digit lead in the second quarter and James wasn't dominating the floor.

Toronto has made it past the second round just once under Casey despite being a top-four seed all five times.

The on-court leader of the Raptors was big for them when it mattered in Round 1 but that didn't translate to this series. However, they ended up right where they were past year 10 games into the playoffs.

Toronto's frustration hit its peak late in the third when All-Star DeMar DeRozan was ejected for a flagrant foul.

He's only four wins away from going to his 8th consecutive NBA Finals, but in completing a sweep of the Raptors, he added to an unbelievable collection of sweeps in his career.

The Sixers still face daunting odds headed into Game 5 and trailing 3-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals: No NBA team has ever won a series down 3-0.
