US President Trump vows to protect gun ownership rights

Dallas welcomes the NRA — sort

US President Donald Trump is blaming a lack of guns in London and France for violence and terrorism there.

Speaking to the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Friday, Trump used his hands in a gesture to act out the shooting of the Paris victims, and said if civilians had been armed "it would have been a whole different story".

He said the Paris assault might have been prevented if citizens were allowed to buy arms. "But you have to give them a chance", he added.

"Our gun rights are in danger, but I do think that Trump is on our side", a Texas resident clad in an NRA hat, said. The annual NRA convention, when many thousands of skilled gun-owning people aren't shooting them at home, is a time when gun injuries go down. Come over here. Boom, come over here.

Islamic State attackers killed 130 people in Paris' Bataclan concert hall, cafes and the national stadium.

The comments from Trump came less than a week after French President Emmanuel Macron visited Washington as a guest of honour for a state visit which saw both of the leaders eager to stress their friendship.

Trump also once again downplayed Manafort's time at the helm of his campaign, saying he's "a nice guy, but you know he worked for me for a very short period of time - like what, a couple months?"

What happened on 13 November 2015?

"Our reaction is first of all disgust over unacceptable clowning around", its leader Philippe Duperron told the Huffpost website while asking for "an official reaction". The group behind the event, No Rifle Association or "NORA", says they want to vote out lawmakers who are influenced by NRA funding and replace them with lawmakers who will find a middle ground between conservatives and liberals on gun reform.

Manuel Valls, who was France's prime minister in 2015, tweeted: "Indecent and incompetent".

But as for the folks who, across the plaza had called for more background checks, Cohen said "I'd fight and die for those idiots' (right) to protest". "They say it's as bad as a military war zone hospital. knives, knives, knives".

Then he turned to knives. "We already have too many", said NRA member Patricia Ferguson.

What did Trump say exactly?

During the NRA speech, Trump also took a swipe at the UK's tight gun control, against the backdrop of its soaring knife crime, and painted a nightmarish scene of an unidentified hospital in the country's capital.

In a statement, Karim Brohi, director of London's major trauma system and a trauma surgeon at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, East London, said his hospital had "cut the number of our young patients returning after further knife attacks from 45 percent to 1 percent". "France is proud to be a country where acquiring and carrying firearms is strictly regulated".

"He ran as supposedly the best friend of the Second Amendment and has become gun grabber in chief", said Michael Hammond, legislative counsel to the Gun Owners of America.
