Drone shot down near Saudi King's palace

A police spokesman said a security screening point in Khuzama "noticed the flying of an unauthorized small recreational drone", leading the forces to "deal with it according to their orders and instructions".

Measure comes after toy drone was reportedly shot down over King Salman's palace in Riyadh, with heavy gunfire.

According to an unnamed senior Saudi official cited by Reuters, however, King Salman was not at the palace but "at his farm in Al-Diriyah".

After reports of heavy gunfire near the Royal Palace in Riyadh, many people got scared and confused it to an attempted coup on the holy land of Saudi Arabia.

One video showed two police cars parked in the middle of a dark street.

"The competent authorities have initiated investigative action on the circumstances of the incident", it added, without commenting on any potential casualties.

The authenticity of the videos could not be verified.

In a report by Yahoo Finance, the Saudi minister said that the Kingdom is willing to "spend as if there is no tomorrow", in technology. Notable clerics also have been detained in a clear bid.

However, they also have fueled speculation about a potential backlash against the crown, that remains favored by the burgeoning youth population of Saudi Arabia.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman recently finished a three-week tour across the United States.

Riyadh and Tehran are locked in a decades-long struggle for supremacy that is being waged in several countries, including Yemen.

The rebels have seized control over much of the country's northern regions since September 2014, including the capital Sanaa, and forced Hadi and his government to flee to Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
