Democratic Party Alleges Trump-Russia Conspiracy in New Lawsuit

The DNC has retained the law firm Cohen-Milstein, which has been involved in settlements for large data breaches in the past, including one against health insurer Anthem, which affected 80 million people.

As special counsel Robert Mueller continues his investigation into whether Trump associates abetted the Russian government, House Intelligence Committee Republicans last month said they found no evidence that Mr Trump and his affiliates colluded with Russian officials. Certain claims in the lawsuit, he said, face statutory expiration dates. "I'm gonna fight like heck", Perez said.

"I find it interesting, and maybe telling, that this lawsuit was filed very shortly after new polls have come out showing that in fact the Democrats are, at least at the moment, poised to do not as well in the 2018 congressional elections as they had hoped".

Parscale predicted the lawsuit would be dismissed.

But Trump himself has repeatedly denied that he or his campaign colluded with Russian Federation in any way, and has even cast doubt that Russian Federation was behind the hack, despite the consensus among the US intelligence community.

The Democrats are doing what Americans do. The suit does not name Trump as a defendant, but a number of his aides are. This suit comes from the alleged harm done to the DNC during the 2016 presidential campaigns and election. That litigation is still in progress.

The party also could seek to interview some of the defendants under oath, as well as others with knowledge who aren't parties in the suit, and then make their findings public if the court allows it. Instead, it targets various Trump aides who, during the campaign, met with people believed to be affiliated with Russian Federation.

Trump's legal team, meanwhile, is expanding with the addition of former federal prosecutor and NY mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is vowing to seek a swift resolution to the special counsel probe. Manafort has been indicted by the special counsel, while Gates and Papadopoulos have both pleaded guilty to different charges.

Days before the Democratic National Convention, when Clinton was set to receive the party's presidential nomination, WikiLeaks published tens of thousands of hacked DNC emails.

The multimillion-dollar complaint argues that top Trump campaign officials worked with Russian operatives to hack the email servers of the Democratic Party and leak information that was damaging to Clinton.

According to the DNC, the Russian government helped President Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating the stolen material that they found.
