Celtic won't stand in Brendan Rodgers' way of Arsenal move: chairman

Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti are now the bookies' favourites to succeed Arsene Wenger after the Frenchman announced he would be stepping down at the end of the season.

Former Liverpool and Swansea boss Rodgers has enjoyed huge success since replacing Ronny Deila as Celtic manager in the summer of 2016.

Rodgers has been mooted to have his fans on the Arsenal board, but it remains to be seen to whom the Gunners turn to start a new chapter after the Wenger era.

Former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is the second favourite for the Arsenal job, while club legend Patrick Vieira is the third favourite.

Rodgers has been linked with being in contention to take charge at the Emirates Stadium following his solid work north of the border with Celtic.

"But Brendan Rodgers, for me, has to be in the frame for Arsenal for the style, the qualities he now has and now the experience that he's gathered".

Nicholas said: "I apologise to fellow-Celtic fans, but Brendan Rodgers has to be in the frame".

If Parkhead was a graveyard for their coaching careers, Rodgers has used it to revive his and win back his reputation, to the extend that he is now the bookes' favourite to succeed Wenger. Someone who goes to Bayern and Barcelona with Celtic and taking them on and getting stuffed is just what Arsenal need.

Or is the speculation surrounding Rodgers nothing more than paper-talk? I cannot deal with the emotion turning to rage so quickly!
