Are you concerned about Allegiant Air's safety record?

Price, the former Delta chief pilot, said firing a pilot for ordering an evacuation would be "so far beyond the bound as to constitute safety malfeasance". She smelled what she thought might be hydraulic fluid. The pilot is now suing the airline, and one of his paid experts was featured prominently in the "60 Minutes" broadcast.

"The Teamsters Airline Division will continue to work with our members and Allegiant to ensure their safety and the safety of the flying public".

Nearly 30 per cent of Allegiant's planes are "antiquated" McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 aircraft, the programme said.

Customer Brian Donnellan did not have his flight rescheduled.

There are 17 airlines that fly out of Pittsburgh International.

Shares of Allegiant fell almost 9% dive on Friday, and shares fell another 2% in Monday. He said the cancellation forced him to rent a vehicle and drive home to be with his family. "When they have safety issues, so when they have safety issues we have to be concerned about it because they set the standards". Many local Allegiant flyers are now reacting to the allegations.

The Tampa Bay Times took a look at the airline in detail in 2016, and based on 60 Minutes' reporting it looks like Allegiant is still having some of the same problems. And that's just for speaking up about concerns.

Almost 173,000 passengers in New Orleans boarded or arrived on Allegiant flights in 2017, according to statistics tracked by Louis Armstrong International Airport.

"We have a lot of maintenance issues".

The attention on Allegiant has also renewed questions about the FAA's performance. Its stock took a nosedive Monday, prompting a company official to shoot back. Police said the employees sold items, like guns and luxury handbags, to a pawn shop.

There wasn't an incoming or departing Allegiant flight at the time, but passengers who saw the report said, it shook them.

The investigation found hundreds of mechanical incidents, engine failures and unscheduled landings from January 2016 to this past fall.

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., asked the Transportation Department's inspector general to investigate FAA's handling of safety issues at the airline.

Allegiant says it began making necessary changes after a federal investigation in 2015.

"The FAA treats every carrier the same".

The airline's statement said it expects employees to adhere to all company procedures and policies, including safety procedures, and denied the claims of critics in the report that there is pressure to put profitability over safety.

Allegiant also sent FOX5 a statement from Captain Steven Allen, who identified himself as a pilot who has worked with Allegiant for four years. "I consistently sell Allegiant out of this office".

Rizzo: "Yes, yes, but I kind of don't want to think about it".

The FAA wrote a letter April 11 to CBS News explaining its oversight of Allegiant and noting that there have been no fatal crashes of USA passenger airlines since 2009.

The current time is also the most safe era of commercial jet travel we have ever seen, Ratliff said.

"But the FAA is not on it you say?"

The FAA exercises rigorous oversight of Allegiant, as they do all airlines operating in the United States.
