Backing magazine paid off doorman to quash love child story

Donald Trump accused of fathering secret love child with worker at one of his skyscrapers

U.S. media is reporting that eight months before the company that owns the National Enquirer paid $US150,000 ($193,000) to a former Playboy Playmate who claimed she'd had an affair with the USA president, the tabloid's parent made a $30,000 payment to a less famous individual: a former doorman at one of the real estate mogul's New York City buildings.

"He's infamous for making up stories", Nikki Benfatto said of Mr. Sajudin. In her case, the model said that she had sold her story exclusively to the National Enquirer, but that they had tricked her into giving away her right to speak out on her affair with the intention of never publishing the story.

Enquirer staffers, however, told The New Yorker and the Associated Press that reporters were pulled off the story, which claimed Trump had fathered a love-child nearly three decades ago.

Speaking under condition of anonymity to the Associated Press, the National Enquirer staffers say it was highly unusual for their publication to shell out that much cash for the exclusive rights to a potentially massive report, only for higher-ups to call off the investigation before its completion.

According to New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow, in an interview with CNN on Thursday morning, the order to pay off the doorman about the Trump out-of-wedlock child rumor came straight from Pecker himself.

RadarOnline, a sister publication of the Enquirer, published details of Sajudin's tale Wednesday, hours before The New Yorker and AP published their stories.

The alleged payoff to Sajudin happened eight months before American Media, which is headed by Trump supporter David Pecker, paid $150,000 in August 2016 to Karen McDougal, a former Playboy Playmate, who alleged she had an affair with Trump.

The AP did not publish the story at that time.

The woman at the center of the story "emphatically" denied to the wire service that she had an affair with Trump.

However, the company decided not to run the story after determining it wasn't true.

Cohen, the longtime Trump lawyer, acknowledged to the AP that he had discussed Sajudin's story with the magazine when the tabloid was working on it.

Federal investigators looking into President Trump's personal lawyer are now questioning whether the country's largest tabloid publisher helped Trump during his presidential campaign. And we do know Stormy Daniels says that going bareback is Trump's M.O. Both the Associated Press and the New Yorker reported the payment Thursday.

"When we realized we would be unable to publish ... we released Sajudin from the exclusivity clause that had accompanies his $30,000 payment", he added.

However, the CEO of AMI has publically confirmed to be a friend of Trump's, and rumor has it that he's been known to buy and bury secrets of the 70-year-old president.
