Comey: John Kelly called Trump "dishonorable" for firing me

Former FBI Director Comey

Comey reportedly recalls that Kelly, who later became White House chief of staff, said he "didn't want to work for dishonorable people", referring specifically to President Trump.

The Republican party is bracing for a week of headlines dominated by Mr Comey and has set up a counter-offensive in the form of a website called "Lyin' Comey" which brands the former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief as a discredited, partisan official.

CNN reported on Thursday that the White House has approved the website, whose domain name was registered 15 days ago. Her server, which she used exclusively while secretary of state, contained classified information and was vulnerable to hacking. There's even an accompanying website, lyincomey.com, which will be updated as Comey's media tour continues and his book is released.

But it will come along with scorching criticism from both Trump's allies and his enemies.

Comey, several concluded, orchestrated the leak in order to put pressure on the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate the president.

Comey also claimed in Senate testimony that he was defamed by the administration over their justification of his termination.

Mr. Trump fired Comey past year while he was leading the investigation into possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 election. The talking points call Comey's credibility into question by focusing on what the RNC calls his "long history of misstatements and misconduct".

"How odd is it for you to sit here and compare the president to a mob boss?".

An interview with Mr Comey, in which he is thought to speak candidly about Mr Trump's behaviour and the Russian Federation investigation, will air on Sunday night in the US.
