Sinclair TV Host Resigns After Vulgar Tweet Threatening Parkland Survivor

Conservative TV host resigns after threatening Parkland survivor David Hogg

Allman has been critical of Hogg and other Parkland survivors advocating for tougher gun control after a gunman killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.

Allman also hosts a morning show on local news-talk radio station KFTK 97.1.

Atlantis Paradise Island Resort said in a statement that while the company believes in free speech, they also "do not condone discrimination, bullying, mockery or harmful behavior of any kind".

She later apologized after Hogg urged his 700,000-plus Twitter followers to pressure companies to stop advertising on Ingraham's show.

After Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted that Hogg, who told numerous outlets that he was "hurt" that some of California's top public schools rejected him, had whined about not being accepted to various colleges, the left-wing teenage activist immediately called on Ingraham's advertisers to drop her.

Ingraham opened her program, "The Ingraham Angle", with a 10-minute monologue about the "squelching of free speech" by the left and deemed such efforts "Stalinist, pure and simple".

Hogg responded by listing companies that advertise during Ingraham's show and encouraging people to contact them.

Ronn Torossian, a spokesperson for Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns the station where Allman had formerly worked, confirms that Allman will no longer appear on the channel.

Unfortunately for Ingraham, many saw her apology as less of a honest olive-branch and more of simply running damage control over the loss of advertisers, which had already begun.

As it turns out, over a dozen advertisers didn't like being associated with a TV host who harangued a kid for not getting into college, and are still continuing to drop her show. Fox stands by its star and she returns to the air on Monday. Another student, Emma Gonzalez, has been falsely depicted in a doctored photo tearing up the Constitution.

Rep. Stacey Newman, a Richmond Heights Democrat and a longtime supporter of stronger gun laws, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Allman had crossed a line and she felt she "needed to step up" after first thinking she didn't want to give any credibility to someone "wanting attention".

Meanwhile, Allman at some point set his Twitter account to "Private," meaning that only users that he specifically approved could view his tweets.

Sinclair has recently come under intense criticism for requiring its news anchors across the country to read identical announcements, warning of the dangers of "fake news". Mr. Trump said rival TV stations were merely "worried about the competition and quality of Sinclair Broadcast".
