Pep Guardiola calls for City fans' help in Manchester derby

Liverpool Team average- 7.36

"City's defeat completed their wretched week after the 3-0 mauling by Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday and they now face a European exit in the return fixture on Tuesday night".

City coach Manel Estiarte posted a video to social media taken from inside the bus as the events were unfolding.

But Liverpool's domination of the Citizens and Jurgen Klopp's overall success against Pep Guardiola made everyone think twice.

The attack left Dortmund's Marc Bartra with a fractured wrist and a police officer with hearing loss.

In the end, Guardiola suffered the same problems that he suffered from in his previous encounter with Liverpool at Anfield - where Liverpool forced City into continuous mistakes from their intense pressing and broke up any rhythm that they like to build up against other teams.

It is hard to believe that the sheer noise levels, from all four corners of the ground, did not impact on the City players as they struggled to cope with the swarming and pressing of Juergen Klopp's side.

"Everyone expected City to win everything this season - even the Grand National!" said Jones.

We can all agree that Manchester City has played some of the best football this season, so much so it has been compared to art. Unusual things happen at this stadium in this competition: Thomas Tuchel said as much after Borussia Dortmund lost here in the Europa League two years ago.

"Normally when the police know it is going to happen, they tried to avoid it from happening", said ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola. Guardiola later admitted it was one of his biggest mistakes and a big regret on his part. "We come here to play football, it is sport, and I don't understand this kind of situation", added Guardiola. But I don't expect this from Liverpool, such a prestigious club, to do this sort of things. It was not only one, only two, only three.

"The priority now is to establish the facts and offer Manchester City whatever support is necessary".

He sarcastically put his thumb up to Anfield security staff and said: "Thanks for protecting us".

However, Guardiola's players were keen to play down the incident.

He said: "We lost 3-0".

Inside the stadium, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren branded the atmosphere as the best he had experienced during his time at the club, with Firmino also believing the crowd provided Liverpool with an extra edge. I'm ok with it, as long as nobody's hurt I'm fine. It doesn't change anything [for the players].
