Conor McGregor Responds to UFC Stripping Him of Lightweight Title

Twitter UFC

UFC fighter Conor McGregor has courted controversy in NY. Holloway has won 12 straight UFC fights.

It was revealed yesterday that McGregor would be stripped of his lightweight title, and it would be on the line at UFC 223. The fact that Khabib Nurmagomedov was on the bus might lend a clue.

"And Conor is not the guy I want to throw in as a late replacement fighter".

Nurmagomedov was a clear fan favorite.

The New York Police Department says it is investigating the incident.

Despite reports of another super fight with Mayweather, this time in the cage, McGregor is expected to make his return to UFC this year, with White confirming: 'Conor is 100% coming back this year'.

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been chalked down to fight each other on five occasions but have yet to trade blows for various reasons. And this time, for the undisputed lightweight championship. He even said that the UFC was trying to protect McGregor. "But it's going to be a long night". The UFC media event where McGregor attacked the bus was for UFC 223. Holloway's 145-pound title won't be on the line, although he'll have the chance to add a second championship belt - the 155-pound title - if he beats Nurmagomedov. Holloway, 19-3, has not lost a fight since 2013 when McGregor beat him by decision.

Nearly every topic in UFC these days somehow comes back to McGregor.

Based on what we know at this time, which, to be clear, isn't much, here's how we see the odds on McGregor's future as it's related to the bus attack. McGregor last fought in a boxing loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26, 2017.

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor left a rival with facial injuries on Thursday after attacking a shuttle bus carrying fighters from an Ultimate Fighting Championship media event in NY, reports said.

He originally posted on Twitter: "You's'll strip me of nothing you's do nothing c****" with the Barclays Center trouble following later.

Weight cut issues at short notice is part of the reason why McGregor was not invited to fight at the event in Brookly on 7 April. Ferguson will remain the division's No. 1 contender. Also per President Dana White, McGregor will not be at the show.

The 29-year-old star did not appear to take the news well.

Will the former lightweight champ ever set foot in the Octagon again?

"In jungle, only one king", Nurmagomedov said.

When asked about his professional relationship with McGregor, he simply said "not good".

White said if Holloway was willing to fight that much, than "anything is possible".
