Drake joins Twitch broadcast to play Fortnite, basically breaks the internet

Drake and Ninja are playing Fortnite right now

Rumblings of a Drake-Ninja collab began last week, when the rapper followed the streamer on Instagram.

Rapper Drake set the gaming world alight as a record-breaking 600,000 people tuned in to watch him play a game live on the internet.

Drake told Ninja during one part of the stream that he plays Fortnite a lot while in the studio. Juju, Drake and Travis Scott teamed up in a game of Fortnite and soon after broke the world record for streaming on Twitch! What a team. What a superb collection of talent. This is a Twitch record, though it fell a bit short of Ninja's prediction that if Drake tweeted out a link to the stream they'd break a million concurrents.

This week famous Twitch streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins paired up with one heck of a formidable cast. Players have to scramble for resources and weapons and survive fighting each other, instead of the zombies in the original game. You can watch the entire thing here if you like, but if you're short on time, this is the best way to get a feel of how the momentous occasion went down. It's possible that the same game my friends and I are playing in could have Drake or Ninja hopping around, though they'd kill us easily.

"While most of the commercial attention has been concentrated on the potential for esports video, this example of live entertainment demonstrates the wider value of games content to the video (and music) industry". The Battle Royale concept takes after the cult Japanese film of the same name, with 100 players in an ever-shrinking map armed with nothing but a picDrakekaxe. Players can also destroy buildings to collect building materials to create barricades, shelters and more.

Drake doesn't appear on the stream as a visual, but instead joins via chat (using the Discord chat service).
