NWS: Blizzard conditions likely Monday into Tuesday

Spring forward — even if winter is back

Forecast models are coming into agreement bringing this storm closer to the southern New England coast which could means accumulating snows for much of MA with higher amounts to the east, though track will be critical. Travel will become hazardous late tonight into Monday morning.

A winter storm watch is in effect for most of New England.

The majority of accumulating snow is expected to taper off on Tuesday evening with the potential of flurries on Wednesday. Street and sidewalks are projected to be wet, with minor accumulation.

The Boston area is expected to get 6 to 9 inches, while southern ME could see nearly 18 inches by Wednesday.

AccuWeather expects near-blizzard conditions in Rhode Island Tuesday afternoon, with winds at 23 miles per hour and gusts up to 44.

Not much accumulation is expected in the Nashville area, but the freezing rain will continue until 8 a.m., which could make the morning commute slick some drivers.

1 to 2 inches of snow is possible in New Jersey and Rockland, Orange, and Putnam Counties.

The news comes as a snow system battered parts of NY and New Jersey just last week, leaving mass power outages, downed trees and even several deaths in its wake. 1 to 3 inches are forecast CT. Of course if the storm track was to shift to the west then we could see even higher snowfall amounts.

Partly sunny skies are likely Monday morning, but more clouds are expected to move in during the afternoon.

A high temperature of about 40 degrees is forecast for Tuesday. Look for a high of 42 degrees.
