Erdogan censures North Atlantic Treaty Organisation for not helpimg in Turkey's Syria operations

Turkey Opposition member questions US support for PKK

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made the nationalist "grey wolf" sign during a Justice and Development party rally in the southern province of Mersin, reports said.

Several people in Germany were left injured after police used pepper spray against some demonstrators opposed to Turkey's ongoing military operation "Olive Branch" against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria's Afrin region. More than one million people are now in Afrin city and villages around it after fleeing the fighting, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor group.

The unauthorized demonstration of some 150 terror sympathizers protesting Turkey's Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin quickly grew rowdy and led to "a number of people suffering injuries", German authorities said.

Erdoğan said North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member Turkey sent troops to conflict zones when requested - giving the examples of Somalia, Afghanistan and the Balkan region - but did not receive necessary support for its Afrin mission in return.

"We are advancing toward Afrin [city center]".

"Since the beginning of the Afrin operation 3,300 terrorists have been neutralized", he added.

Manbij, the next main YPG-held town east of Afrin, is a particular flashpoint as it has an American military presence there.

Only one route now leads out of the town and into government-controlled zones in Syria's northern province of Aleppo.

Turkish troops provided humanitarian aid to the civilians who were taken from Kafr Safra to Hasirki region.

Turkey's objective has put it in direct contrast to U.S.'s objective of building a force to stabilize the region.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK - listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the USA, and European Union - resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.

Ankara says 42 Turkish soldiers have died in the fight.
