Anthony Davis will be available to play vs. Utah

Anthony Davis Returns to Pelicans' Lineup After Missing 1 Game with Ankle Injury

The New Orleans Pelicans have listed Anthony Davis as a starter in Sunday's game against Utah, marking the All-Star forward's return from a sprained left ankle after a one-game absence.

The Pelicans went into Sunday's game against the Jazz looking to rebound following Friday's loss against the Wizards, but they couldn't generate enough offense, falling 116-99.

Utah's Ricky Rubio beat the shot clock with a wing three-pointer, giving the Jazz a 109-97 lead with 1:50 remaining.

If Davis is able to play, he will try to record his sixth consecutive double-double against the Jazz after averaging 23.8 points and 13.0 rebounds in the previous five meetings along with 2.2 steals per contest.

Davis, who turned 25 on Sunday, is averaging 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game this season, his sixth in the National Basketball Association.

The Pelicans sorely missed Davis' presence Friday, as their loss to Washington snapped an 11-game winning streak.

Donovan Mitchell scored just two points in the first half, but he exploded in the second half, scoring 15 points in the final 3:08 of the third quarter. He had 20 points and 11 assists in last month's rout and has totaled 22 assists with only three turnovers against the Pelicans this season.

He kept his streak going by converting a three-point play to start the fourth-quarter scoring. The Pelicans subbed out Davis and Jrue Holiday shortly thereafter. Mitchell finished with 27 points.
