American Idol is back after a two-year (almost) break

MUST SEE TV: Venezuelan Refugee Living In Sweetwater Wants To Be An “American Idol!”

Less than two years have passed since American Idol ended its 15-season run on Fox, but already it's being brought back from the dead - or more like awakened from temporary slumber - by ABC, who last year acquired the rights to the singing-competition series that launched all the other singing-competition series. Read on to find out. Photo: Valerie Macon/AFP/Getty Images When Perry released her 2017 album "Witness", the EP quickly climbed to No. 1 on iTunes in 46 countries and made its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. But if you don't have cable or an antenna, Sling Television offers a seven-day free trial, and it can get you access to ABC's live programming.

Despite his many accomplishments, the singer told Variety he isn't sure he would be able to make it through the audition process on "American Idol". "I thought I was going to be the authority.but, no, no, I am the Kindergarten teacher".

Immediately after the premiere, at 11p/10c, Chandler Morgan introduces you to a West Georgia teen hoping for American Idol stardom.

Is Ryan Seacrest going to be there? "I love the sound of your voice", Richie said, comparing Turner to a martian. The man who emigrated from the Congo as a child.

15-year-old Alyssa Raghu has an impeccable bond with her father as her birth mother abandoned them when she was 2-years-old. No one appears to be aspiring to Simon Cowell's old role of acid-tongued truth-teller (not that I didn't miss him a little), and Bryan, in particular, is so eager to make the judging panel seem like a happy family that he declares them to be like "peas in a pod". I'm very cut and dry sometimes.

Not fooling around!' As we get closer to the real deal I can nearly feel that we're going to be able to voice our opinions, ' he said, before adding the fighting words: 'I'm bringing my mace!' "I can take it down, dumba**es", she hissed while walking out of her audition.

"The only thing standing in my way at this point is me".

Then there was Nico Bones, who gave an interesting performance that clearly wasn't suited for Idol, but received props from the judges anyway.

"I watched American Idol in Venezuela", she says, "and one of the reasons I wanted to come to the United States was to be on the show". Still, media buyers have been bullish on Idol, a broad family-friendly program, and are ponying up almost $200,000 for a 30-second spot, compared with a high of $150,000 on Fox during the last season. When fans can quickly find niche artists who meet their precise tastes, it becomes exceedingly hard to create a ubiquitous, mainstream "Idol".

"It was an eye-opening experience", he said.

After tonight's premiere, it's unclear if the show will produce another Carrie Underwood, but rest assured that's the ultimate goal.
