Putin 'couldn't care less' about US election interference

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia are both fighting for their lives in hospital after being poisoned by a mystery nerve agent

Russian interference continues to loom over the USA, with CIA Director Mike Pompeo and two other intelligence officials warning, "The 2018 US midterm elections are a potential target for Russian influence operations". "If the 13 Russian individuals and companies did interfere in US elections, does that matter?"

He claimed it was not Russia's "goal to interfere" and appeared incredulous at the charges, asking, "Could anyone really believe that Russian Federation, thousands of miles away.influenced the outcome of the election?" Maybe they're not even Russians.

Putin was unmoved by an indictment filed by special counsel Robert Mueller last month that accused 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies of interfering in the election - including supporting Trump's campaign and "disparaging" Hillary Clinton's.

"Doesn't that sound ridiculous even to you?"

The Russian president, who is running for another six-year term in office at the March 18 election which could ensure his presence at the seat of the country's power until 2024, professed ignorance over the Russian nationals' motives.

Putin claimed that the United States interferes in Russian elections "all the time" but that it was "impossible for us" to do the same. During the interview, Putin also said that his USA counterpart has "leadership qualities" as "he takes responsibility when he makes decisions". Give us an official request.

"I have other ways of expressing my point of view or implementing a decision", the Kremlin leader said. "And we'll take a look at it".

USA intelligence chiefs last month said Russian attempts to meddle in United States politics are continuing unabated - and pose a threat to mid-term congressional elections in November. The Russian president described his American counterpart as "a businessman with very extensive experience" and a "modern" man, in reference to his tweeting habit. "There's no goal", Putin said. Mr. Trump has said he never said Russian Federation did not meddle.

As for the relations between US and Russia, Putin said Trump "understands perfectly well that trading accusations or insults at our level is a road to nowhere".
