Mahrez account was hacked, Leicester confirm

Riyad Mahrez

He went on strike in January after failing to secure a move to Manchester City on deadline day - the club fined him two weeks wages at the time for going AWOL.

"I don't want to want to talk about this, because first it will bring more rumours and more talk, and second we are very far away from this transfer window", he told Sky Sports.

Leicester boss Claude Puel said Pep Guardiola's City should have shown his club more respect in their late bid to sign the forward in January.

Despite his assurances, Leicester fans will still fear the winger has his heart set on a move to the Etihad, especially as he admitted he wanted to join City in the summer.

"I heard some people saying I hadn't been talking to the club but I was always talking to the club".

Leicester City confirmed on Wednesday that star forward Riyad Mahrez is not quitting football after a weird post appeared on the player's Facebook page announcing he was retiring.

The Algerian is believed to be angry with the Leicester City chiefs for not allowing him to move on and he is hoping to leave at the end of the season. Riyad is very honest and wouldn't get up to mischief.

Mahrez added: "It was hard; I've always been in contact with the club".

It was only a matter of time following his failed transfer to Manchester City that other clubs would come knocking again, and Corriere dello Sport firmly believe the Italians want him again.

Mahrez has also been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal.

"Probably his absence hurt us a bit, with results and confidence, but we are pleased to have him back because he is a top player", the French tactician said, as quoted by the Daily Star.

It's unclear who Mahrez will play for next season, but at least we know he will not be hanging up his boots despite a social media scare earlier this week.

"It won't affect me so I don't know why they tried to do that".
