Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett traded to the Eagles

The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles just bolstered their defensive line.

The Eagles acquired three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, three people familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. Only two players, Houston's J.J. Watt and Cincinnati's Carlos Dunlap, have more quarterback hits than Bennett over the past five seasons.

While at Texas, Johnson accumulated 793 yards receiving on 61 receptions and 4 touchdowns between 2013 and 2015.

If we needed any more clarification regarding the reported Michael Bennett to Philadelphia Eagles trade, the Pro Bowler himself provided it on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles have a rotation that will consist of Bennett, Graham, Barnett, Long, and possibly Steven Means at defensive end. It is expected to be the first of many major offseason moves for the Seahawks as they reshape their roster ahead of the 2018 season. Of course, there was no better fit for Bennett in his prime than Seattle, as a player and a unique personality, in a locker room full of them. The NFL's concept of trade value is vastly different than it is in the National Basketball Association, but a fifth-round pick and receiver Marcus Johnson for Bennett and a seventh still felt like a steal for Philly.

Last season, Bennett counted up 25 tackles, 9 sacks and a pass defense in 16 starts.

Bennett played through a torn plantar fascia in his foot and multiple knee injuries throughout the season, and he was still productive. Ultimately, it could wind up being one of the most hectic offseasons that the National Football League has seen in several years. In the trade, they picked up a young receiver in Johnson, which was needed after they'll be losing Paul Richardson in free agency.
