How to Play Super Mario Odyssey's Balloon World

Super Mario Odyssey's first content update might be coming tomorrow

As described in its debut trailer (during that secret mini Direct) you'll need to hide and find balloons, competing with other players in an asynchronous fashion.

Available to download now, the update adds a brand new mini game as well as some new outfits for Mario and a couple of new filters for Snapshot Mode. Once you find Luigi in the world you're in, talk to him.

Update: Luigi's Balloon World, the new minigame available after finishing Super Mario Odyssey, is now available. That's because the new - and completely free - first dlc for the Nintendo Switch smash hit game looks like it's coming later today. Earning high scores for finding and hiding balloons will also allow players to rank up.

Additionally, the update adds three new outfits: a pinstripe suit and hat for a musician, a Sunshine-themed Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses combo, and a knight's suit of armour for Mario to wear into battle.

New filters have been added to the snapshot mode (Coin and Neon). The minigame will be available after you complete the game, so you've got a fun surprise waiting for you after you finish up your important business with Cappy.

Warning: a lot of them prove that Luigi has always secretly been best Italian plumber this whole time. Adjustments have been made to the Jump-Rope Challenge along with a number of other areas of the game to make for a more enjoyable experience.

News of this excellent new addition for the Switch (and Super Mario Odyssey) comes as rumours around another big potential Switch game have started to gather pace this week.
