The Roundup—Jazz cap road trip with win in Memphis

During the Cleveland Cavaliers' mission to basically retool their entire roster prior to the clock running out on Thursday's 2018 NBA Trade Deadline, the Utah Jazz were quietly in the middle of all the deadline madness.

Sacramento acquires Joe Johnson from Utah, which gets Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose from Cleveland, sources said.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reshaping their roster with a series of moves ahead of Thursday's 2018 National Basketball Association trade deadline.

The oft-injured Hood, 25, was averaging a career-high 16.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in his fourth season with the Jazz.

The Jazz tried to get Crowder in the offseason as part of a last-minute sign-and-trade deal with Boston when former Jazzman Gordon Hayward announced he was joining the Celtics. Crowder is set to earn $7.3 million next season and $7.8 million the following year. Crowder (6-6, 235), who was acquired by Cleveland on August 22, 2017, played in 53 games (47 starts) with the Cavaliers this season, averaging 8.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 25.4 minutes.

In 43 games (36 starts), Hill is averaging 10.3 points, his lowest since 2014. In one sense, they did Joe Johnson a favor by trading him.

Rose, 29, the number one draft pick in 2008, has battled injuries the last several years, and is averaging a career-low 9.8 points and 1.3 assists per game this season. The deal, however, keeps the Kings in line with their financial plans moving forward.

The move would put Rose on a contender in the West, not far from home in Chicago.

Hill will take over as the Cavaliers' starting point guard and his shooting ability should make the veteran a nice fit for the offense, but tonight, it'll likely be a lot of Jose Calderon in Cleveland's backcourt.
