Texas televangelist tells viewers flu season is not real

In a Facebook message posted last week televangelist Gloria Copeland told followers that they've already had their flu shots if they believe in Jesus Christ

Despite more than 2,800 flu/pneumonia-related deaths already reported just in Texas alone from October 1 to January 31, Fort Worth-based Gloria Copeland claims there is no such thing as the flu season.

"Jesus himself gave us the flu shot", Gloria Copeland said in a video posted last Wednesday that has slowly begun to go viral, no pun intended, after some observers highlighted Copeland's ties to Trump.

This winter's flu has been the worst in the U.S. in quite some time, with record numbers of hospitalizations, ER visits, and deaths.

More than 37 children across the country have died during a nasty flu outbreak that is already one of the worst on record, even though the season typically peaks in February.

Her remarks come as physicians insist people get their flu shots, as 85 percent of the children who have died were probably not vaccinated, CDC Director Brenda Fitzgerald told Reuters last month.

Copeland adds that if "somebody threatens you" by noting the spread of the flu virus, rest assured that, "we've already had our shot. That's what we stand on". So, take the word of God, stay in the word of God.

"We've got a duck season", she said. Saying: 'I will never have the flu, I will never have the flu. Jesus himself gave us the flu shot.

As reported by USA media, Copeland and her family have expressed skepticism and / or competition over vaccines and medicines in the past.

Shortly after she tells viewers to, "inoculate yourself with the word of God".

"We know what's wrong with you".

"I bind you off the people in the name of Jesus". "Now, which do you want to do?"

In 2013, her husband Kenneth Copeland, also a televangelist, was criticized when the family's North Texas megachurch found itself at the center of a measles outbreak. Yes, you heard it right.

At least 126,117 cases of the flu have been confirmed this flu season, with experts predicting that by the end of the season the number of cases may match the 710,000 hospitalizations from the flu.

Commentators showed mixed reactions, but several said she was inaccurately representing Christian teachings.

"Sometimes people ask, 'If God's medicine works every time, why are there so many believers who are still sick?' There are two reasons", Gloria Copeland wrote.
